Based on real events, this film is set in the 1960’s during the space race and tells the story of Katherine G Johnson (Taraji P Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monáe).

These woman are integral parts of the team involved in putting astronaut John Glenn into orbit.

Katherine is a mathematical genius who worked on the calculations for the trajectory of the rocket. Dorothy is the office supervisor who taught herself, and the other girls in the office, the code language of the computer which was brought in to do the calculations faster. And Mary is an aspiring engineer who needs to take classes in maths and physics, which are only offered at night in an all-white school.

I enjoyed everything about this film and left the cinema wanting to know more about the woman involved in this story.
