In my opinion, this is by far the best live action film that Disney has produced in recent years surpassing The Jungle Book and Cinderella. This is mainly because the director has chosen to make this into a full on musical with the iconic songs included plus a few new ones.

Set in a small French village, Belle, following Emma Watson’s input has been transformed into the inventor instead of her father, throwing out the black ballet pumps and putting her in boots, which are far more practical for the provincial setting.

The musical numbers are big and colourful and had me wanting to sing along with them, especially the Be Our Guest number.

I took my five year old nephew to see this and apart from getting a bit fidgety towards the end, he seemed to enjoy it. However he did get confused with who the good guy and the bad guy were. There are also a couple of scenes involving wolves that may scare the younger audience.
